170806 Indian Fastpitch Western Nationals champsMEDFORD, Ore. -- Roseburg-based Indian Fastpitch won its 24th straight game Sunday morning, and it was a special one.

The summer softball team made up of players from various Douglas County schools defeated Rocky Mountain, Colorado, 8-0, in the championship game of the 16U ASA B Western Nationals at US Cellular Park in Medford.

This ends the season for Indian Fastpitch, which finished with a 37-5 overall record.

Mackenzie Norton led the Indians, going 3-for-3 at the plate.

Kalie Mann hit a walk-off 2-run homer after Katie Ladd laid down a successful suicide squeeze bunt to score Nikki Derrick. (The home run ended the game in the 5th inning via mercy rule.)

Pitcher Madysn Blevins picked up the win for the Indians, throwing a shutout.

According to Indian Fastpitch coaches, the team made history by becoming the first from Oregon to win a Nationals tournament.
