WINSTON, Ore. -- The South Umpqua football team finished the regular season strong with a road win to close out the Far West League season.
The Lancers took care of Douglas with a 32-7 win over the Trojans at Douglas High School in Winston on a cool, damp Friday night.
Connor Yates scored three touchdowns for the Lancers. The Trojans' Jace Johnson caught a 4-yard touchdown pass for Douglas' lone score.
With the win, SU improved to 4-1 in the Far West League (5-3 overall). It was the Lancers' fourth straight win.
South Umpqua finished the regular season in second place in the FWL behind Marshfield. They'll host Stayton Friday at 7 p.m. in a loser-out state play-in game.
Douglas fell to 2-3 in conference play (4-4 overall) following the loss on Senior Night at DHS.
