Zach Mandera pitched a 1-hitter in the shutout win over the Axe, picking up 8 strikeouts along the way.

Mandera was solid at the plate as well, going 2-for-3. Teammates John Stone and Caden Johnson were also 2-for-3.

The Indians travel to South Salem on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Elsewhere, Sutherlin defeated Siuslaw 5-4; Douglas crushed North Valley 19-2; South Umpqua downed Elmira 7-4; Glendale whipped Prospect 19-1; and Umpqua Valley Christian crushed Monroe 14-2.

Local teams that didn't fare as well included Elkton, who fell to Creswell 16-6, and Riddle lost to Bandon 16-5.
