Eight local athletes are competing this week at the OSAA Tennis State Championships.

Three Roseburg girls qualified for the 6A event in Portland, including singles player Radhe Allen; and the doubles team of Lynsey Johnson and Shelby Roth.

The Indians are also sending the doubles team of Matt Bruns and Patrick Foley to the boys 6A tournament at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton.

Canyonville Christian Academy qualified three players for the 4A/3A/2A/1A tournament taking place at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

Singles player Tim Chen is the number two seed from District 3; and the doubles tandem of Brandon Kruk and Loc Nguyen enter as the league's fourth seed.

The state championships take place Thursday, May 20 through Saturday, May 22.
