Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Winners |
The girls basketball team at North Douglas High School has been awarded for its excellence in the classroom. The Warriors (3.80) finished tied for first with the top grade point average among all basketball teams in Class 2A.
The 15th annual Oregon Academic All-State Awards were sponsored by the OSAA and the Dairy Farmers of Oregon.
“As an organization we are very proud of this award because it shows all the hard work and commitment student athletes demonstrate in the classroom,” said Tom Welter, OSAA Executive Director.
A total of eight teams were recognized for earning the highest team GPA in the entire state for their activity, regardless of classification. Additionally, the Dairy Farmers of Oregon honored the top 10 teams for all winter sports in each classification.
Four other local girls teams were recognized including 4A Sutherlin (3.62); 3A Glide (3.65); 1A Elkton (3.80); and 1A Umpqua Valley Christian (3.78).
Three boys basketball teams finished in the top ten as 6A Roseburg (3.65) was third; 2A Yoncalla (3.44) finished seventh; and 1A Umpqua Valley Christian (3.64) was sixth.
The Roseburg girls swim team (3.78) was second among the 6A teams in the state and the top-ranked Indians wrestlers (3.24) were fifth.
North Douglas was among five local cheerleading squads recognized as the Warriors (3.56) finished first in Class 2A; Canyonville Christian Academy (3.36) tied for second; and Reedsport (3.31) was fourth.
Sutherlin (3.31) was fourth in Class 4A, while South Umpqua (3.25) finished eighth.
