Oakland Beats Monroe 44-32

basketball2.jpgZach Dickson has 15 points and Cole Barrows added nine points and seven rebounds to lead Oakland to a 44-32 win over Monroe in a Mountain View Conference boys basketball game Thursday night at the Nut House.

With the victory, the Oakers improved to 10-5 in league and 13-11 overall.

"I wouldn't have guessed that we'd be in the playoff hunt after the way we started the season back in December," Oakland head coach Jeff Clark said. "Our defensive pressure has picked up and the offense has slowly started to come around."

North Douglas (14-1, 21-3) won its 11th straight game of the year with a 77-48 triumph at Glendale; Kasey Dunn scored 21 points as Days Creek (13-2, 20-3) beat Crow 55-53; and Yoncalla (10-6, 12-10) finished the regular season with a 56-43 victory over Oakridge. 

On the girls side, Oakland (13-2, 17-7) jumped into a tie for first place after its 55-45 win over Monroe; Yoncalla (10-6, 13-10) finished out the regular season with a 53-37 loss to Oakridge; Days Creek upended Crow 39-35; and Glendale rolled over North Douglas 49-18.

Elsewhere, the Roseburg girls earned their second win of the conference season with a 46-39 upset of visiting North Medford.
