Docs Open World Series

docs_regional_champs.jpgIt's down to the final eight teams in the country and Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's is one of them.

The Roseburg team is playing in its first American Legion World Series since 1984. The Docs will play in the late game Friday, taking on Eden Prairie, MN, at 8:00PM at Avista Stadium in Spokane, WA.

A win from the Docs keeps them playing in the late game Saturday. A loss would take the Docs to a 1:00PM game in the loser's bracket. The other two teams on Roseburg's side of the eight-team field are Chesapeake, VA, and Midwest City, OK. avista_stadium.jpg

The Docs swept their way into their first World Series in 26 years after an impressive run at the Northwest Regional Tournament at Gonzaga University in Spokane. Roseburg won five straight games, few of them close as it outscored its opponents 60-19. This followed the Docs' comeback in both the Oregon State Tournament and the Oregon Super Regionals, which saw the Roseburg team fight back through the loser's bracket in both tournaments to reach the Northwest Regional.
