Douglas Dominates South Umpqua

dhswin.jpgQuarterback Jordan Shaffer tossed three touchdown passes as Douglas cruised to a 58-0 win over South Umpqua in a Far West League football game Friday night in Winston.

Riley Lavin had a pair of TD receptions (26, 40); and Nate Vosika ran for two scores (6, 11) to help the Trojans improve to 2-1 in league and 5-2 overall.

Douglas put the game out of reach early by scoring six first half touchdowns on its way to a 46-0 halftime lead. Backup running back Chance Wimberly carried the ball two times in the second half and scored on runs of 65 and 41 yards.

Tyler Foster also had a big game for the ninth-ranked Trojans with an interception and a 61 yard touchdown reception.

Elsewhere, Roseburg (3-2, 5-2) committed four turnovers in a 31-7 loss to top-ranked Sheldon; Sutherlin lost to number three North Bend 42-6; North Douglas downed Glendale 16-8; Riddle upended Yoncalla 22-12; Oakland outscored Waldport 63-34; and Days Creek forfeited its game at Perrydale.
