Roseburg shortstop John Farrington was one of five Douglas County athletes named as the conference's Most Valuable Player for the 2010 season.
Also receiving top honors were Umpqua Valley Christian's Austin Stone; Sutherlin junior Mikayla Mendenhall; Glide junior Marissa Duarte; and Riddle senior Ashley Yackamouih.
Joining Farrington on the Southwest Conference's first team were pitchers Brandon Jackson and Josh Graham; catcher Vince Ampi; infielders Derek Priestley and Jay Tovey; along with outfielders Mitch Huff and Cameron Newell.
First-team Far West League honors included South Umpqua's Austin Marsh, Cameron Reese and Blake Cupp; Douglas High's Jered Stoffal, Sky Woods and Tyson Dahl; and Blayne Sterling and Kyle Jaukkuri of Sutherlin.
The Sunset Conference's first team had some local flavor with Glide's Brenden Fricke, Connor Kahle and Connor Thompson; and Reedsport's Josh Palmer.
District 2 player of the year Austin Stone was joined by UVC's Isaac Graham, Jacob Lum, Mitchell Graham and Gabe Forrester; North Douglas High's Garrett Jenkins, Austin Potter, Tanner Toy, Noah Miller and Jordan Hicks; Blake Barron and Colton Hanson of Riddle; Glendale's Dylan Boucher; Days Creek's Devin Muir; and Oakland pitcher Cody Perry.
Roseburg softball player's Shauna Collins and Breanne Thomas were selected to the SWC's first team.
Joining Mendenhall on the Far West League's first team were teammates Tiffani Rosemeyer, Shannon Sloniker, Randi Kostner, Tessa Knight, Samantha Jaramillo, Kelsee Knee and Kylie Atterbury; Douglas's Meranda Zanni, Jessica Case and Breauna Parr; and South Umpqua's Amber Ball.
Glide's Marissa Duarte had plenty of company on the Sunset Conference's first team with Alexa Skinner, Kelsey Jeffries and McKenzie Shrum; along with Reedsport's Dani Thomsen.
District 2 champion Riddle had four first-teamers with Yackamouih, Stephanie Maurer, Taylor Riekeman and Kailee Hanson. Joining them were Oakland's Haley Roeder; Kaitlynn and Kassidee Rice of North Douglas; Yoncalla's Hayley Reynolds; and Glendale's Faith Williams and Morgan Streeter.
Coach of the Year honors went to Roseburg's Troy Thompson; Jeff Davis of North Douglas; Sutherlin softball's Dave Hyland; and Oakland softball coach Bud Maret.
