Roseburg got its conference season off to a positive start thanks to a 35-7 win over visiting Grants Pass Friday night at Finlay Field.

Junior QB Hayden Lent tossed three touchdown passes, including two to wide receiver Chris Shoffner; and Ben Goirigolzarri also had a big night rushing for one score and returning a fumble for another touchdown.

There was a full slate of action around the county as Glide lost to Pleasant Hill 62-21; Reedsport (2-1) beat Waldport 36-14; Days Creek (2-0) stayed unbeaten with a 42-12 triumph over Mapleton; and Elkton (1-2) upended Myrtle Point 60-18 .

Oakland (2-0, 3-0) blew out Glendale 49-6 in a battle for first place in the Mountain View Conference; Riddle (1-1, 2-1) got by North Douglas (0-1, 0-3) by a score of 24-12; and Yoncalla lost a non-league game to Creswell 47-7.
