Start of Local American Legion Season Delayed |
|
The rainy weather has delayed the start of the 2010 American Legion baseball season in Douglas County.
Tryouts for the three Roseburg teams, Dr. Stewart's, Horizon and Pepsi, have been pushed back until Monday, June 7 and Tuesday, June 8 with the selection of the rosters set for Tuesday evening.
The conflict has also caused the cancellation of the Docs June 6 doubleheader at Springfield.
There have also been some coaching changes, involving two of the teams. Former Pepsi head coach Richie Charles has been elevated to an assistant coaching position for Dr. Stewart's, replacing Kevin Wilson; and Justin O'Byrne will take over the head coaching duties for Pepsi.
The triple-A Docs are coached by Scott Shaver; single-A Horizon is led by Ryan Hunter; and the Umpqua Blaze are under the guidance of first-year head coach Coty Clack.
