Three varsity basketball programs in Douglas County have new head coaches.

There's one change on the boys' side as Kent Kristensen takes over for James Hixenbaugh in Reedsport.

A pair of girls' teams also have new coaches with Kipp Archambault beginning his first year at South Umpqua; and John Brown at Glide.

Most recently, Archambault was an assistant coach at Douglas High School in Winston. He takes over a program that finished winless in the Far West League.

John Brown begins his first season at Glide High School replacing Nate Gerig who resigned after the 2010-11 campaign.

The Wildcats are coming off a 16-8 season, but finished in third place in the four-team Sunset Conference.
