OSAA Cross Country Championships |
Four County athletes competed at the OSAA Cross Country State Championships Saturday at Lane Community College in Eugene.
South Umpqua sophomore Cassandra Van Atta (16:41) was the top local performer finishing in 10th place at the girls 4A event; Roseburg's Kenny Freeman was 29th out of 106 runners in the boys Class 6A finals; Sutherlin freshman Brittany Hanson ran the girls 4A course in 21:09; and Reedsport senior Marcus Gabaldon finished his career with a time of 18:28 at the boys 3A/2A/1A competition.
Individual champions were Central Catholic's Kyle Thompson (6A); St. Mary's Paige Rice (6A); Summitt's Travis Neuman (5A) and Megan Fristoe (5A); Paul Adams (4A) of Mazama; Klamath Union's Alisha Luna (4A); Joseph Ewers (3A/2A/1A) of Central Linn; and Creswell's Olivia Powell (3A/2A/1A).
South Eugene swept the team titles in Class 6A; Summit took both trophies at the 5A championships; Siuslaw (4A boys); Scappoose (4A girls); Valley Catholic (3A/2A/1A boys); and Union (3A/2A/1A girls).
