Roseburg High School athlete Josh Cole has earned a national award for his talents in the classroom.  

The senior was selected out of 1000 applicants as the grand prize winner of the Champs 'Cash for College' Scholarship. Josh submitted a 200 word essay entitled “Grades on the Field & Off” explaining why he deserved to win cash for college.

The award included $10,000 for tuition at the college of his choice, round-trip airfare for two and a pair of tickets to the December 29 Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Josh received the prize on the field between the first and second quarter of the nationally televised game.

Cole was a two-way starter on the 2011 RHS football team earning honorable mention all-conference accolades as a defensive back. He is also a current member of the varsity basketball program.
