Roseburg Boys Lay Down the Hammer |
|
Roseburg's Luke Hammer scored all of the team's goals in a 3-1 non-league victory Tuesday night at North Eugene.
The Indians (1-0) took control of the game early scoring three times in the first 17 minutes of the contest.
"It was nice to get off to a fast start," Roseburg head coach Kevin Hunt said. "I was able to move some players into different positions and get a look at some of the younger kids."
The Roseburg girls weren't as fortunate dropping their season opener 1-0 to North Eugene.
Both teams played a scoreless first half before the Highlanders got the game's lone goal in the 73rd minute.
"It was a fairly evenly matched game," Roseburg head coach Adam Blue said. "Unfortunately, Hannah Russo was not able to play because of a shoulder injury and without her speed we just weren't able to create enough scoring opportunities."
Elsewhere, both the South Umpqua boys and girls teams lost to Hidden Valley by identical scores of 8-0.
