Roseburg Wrestling Coach Honored

Steve Lander was selected as Oregon's nominee for the NFHS wrestling 'coach of the year', before going up against other winners from Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

"Coach Lander is the 2010 Section 8 'coach of the year'," OACA Associate Director Rob Younger said. "It's a tremendous honor as he was competing against thousands of wrestling coaches in the six northwest states."

He then competed against the seven section winners for the National award, but was not selected at that level.

Lander, who has led the Indians to three state titles in the past four seasons, will be honored at the annual Oregon Athletic Coaches Association (OACA) banquet in May.
