Sutherlin Sweeps Tournament Titles |
The host Sutherlin Bulldogs swept both the girls and boys championships at the inaugural Douglas County Invitational basketball tournament.
Senior Kelsey Hill scored a game-high 30 points in the Bulldogs' 74-42 victory over Riddle in the girls title game; and Taler Jensen had 10 points in a 54-29 win against Umpqua Valley Christian in the boys final Saturday night at Sutherlin High School.
Elsewhere, Austin Page and Blake Johnson combined for 27 points to lead South Umpqua to a 61-43 over Far West League rival Douglas in the boys third place game; Days Creek took fourth at the tournament after its 50-43 win over Glide; and Yoncalla beat Riddle 50-36.
Glide's Kali Vickery had 18 points as the Wildcats took home the third-place trophy with a 44-42 overtime win over Reedsport; StevieLee Jansen scored 18 points to help Days Creek earn a fourth place finish with a 39-33 victory against South Umpqua; and Yoncalla beat Umpqua Valley Christian 40-38.
