PHILOMATH, Ore. -- The South Umpqua Lancers saw their playoff hopes dashed with a 73-39 loss at Philomath in a first round 4A playoff game Friday night.

Cody Gray led the Lancers with 15 points while Justice Cole chipped in 8.

S.U. ends the season at 14-12 overall with a third place finish in the Far West League at 6-4.

In local girls basketball, Sutherlin beat Molalla 74-43 to earn a trip to the 4A state tournament; and Douglas lost its playoff game 74-35 at La Grande.
