EUGENE, Ore. -- Douglas County's newest semi-pro football team kicked off its season successfully Saturday.
The Douglas County Timberwolves defeated the Willamette Valley Crusaders 39-0 in a season-opening blowout to open the NNFL (National Nineman Football League) season.
The T'Wolves (1-0) play in the league's south division.
Up next, Douglas County faces another Willamette Valley team, the Skallywags, which beat the Benton Bulldogs 19-18 in week 1.
Kickoff is 5 p.m. at Cottage Grove High School on March 12.
The National Nineman Football League is an Oregon-based, veteran owned, private entity, providing young men the opportunity to continue playing Football. It has been operating for 14 years, according to the league website.
