Umpqua's bid for an NWAC title is over following its opening round loss to Peninsula.

The Pirates held off a fourth quarter rally to beat the Riverhawks 70-67 Thursday morning at the NWAC Basketball Championships in Everett, Washington.

UCC (25-7) outscored Peninsula 15-10 in the final period, but it wasn't enough to erase the 8-point deficit.    

Anna Mumm led all scorers with 26 points; Sawyer Kluge had 14 and Maddy Pape finished with 10 points.   

Next up, Umpqua plays in the consolation semifinals Friday at 10:00AM.
