It was perfect weather Saturday and there was a full slate of softball and baseball games involving Douglas County teams.

In Tri City, South Umpqua's Taya Kelley struck out nine North Valley hitters but the Knights still held on to defeat the Lancers 5-4 in 8 innings Saturday in the opening game of a non-league doubleheader.

SU avenged the loss in the nightcap. Alexis Westbrooks picked up the win pitching South Umpqua to an 11-5 victory.
