ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg baseball team almost didn't finish its doubleheader against South Medford at Legion Memorial Field Saturday.

With the Panthers leading 7-4 after five innings in the opener, heavy rainfall pelted Legion Field, forcing a lengthy delay.

When the weather cleared, Roseburg players performed emergency field maintenance and the game was completed with the Panthers prevailing 12-5.

In the nightcap, Roseburg led for a time before South's bats came alive again for a 9-6 Panther win.

The Indians fell to 7-5 in the Southwest Conference, tied for 2nd with North Medford. South Medford improved to 5-7 in league.

It was the Panther's third straight win in as many games over Roseburg.

Elsewhere, Riddle and UVC split their doubleheaders with Hosanna Christian and Bonanaza, respectively.
