SALEM, Ore. -- A longtime teacher and coach in Douglas County is now a head coach once again.

Former Roseburg Head Volleyball Coach Bruce Myers has accepted the varsity head coaching position at McNary High School in Salem.

Originally from Eugene, Myers and his wife, Nancy, moved to the Salem area after retiring from teaching in Douglas County.

Myers was Head Volleyball Coach at Douglas from 1982-1986 and 1990-1992. He then helmed the Roseburg program for 18 years, from 1994-2012.

He coached the Sprague freshman in 2014 and 2015.

Although he is retired from teaching, Myers says he never retired from coaching.

"Since I have not really taken a break, I am looking forward to working with kids and trying to create the best volleyball program possible," Myers says.

The McNary Celtics of Salem-Keizer School District 24J play in Oregon Class 6A's Greater Valley Conference.
