160510 South Umpqua softballFLORENCE, Ore. -- The South Umpqua softball team struggled offensively and dropped its regular season finale 4-1 to Siuslaw in Florence Tuesday.

Alexis Westbrooks was 2-for-4 for S.U.; Emma Lind was 1-for-4 and had the team's only RBI; Caitlynn Telford was 1-for-2 with a double.

The loss drops the Lancers to 9-6 in the Far West League, 16-10 overall. Siuslaw improved to 4-11 in conference play and 7-15 overall.

S.U. finishes the regular season in 3rd place, two games behind 2nd place Marshfield and four games behind league champ Douglas, a 9-2 winner over North Bend Tuesday.

Elsewhere, the South Umpqua baseball team notched a 9-6 win over Siuslaw in its regular season finale. The Lancers finish in 2nd place in the Far West at 12-3, 15-11 overall.
