Roseburg Respect is the newest local team to compete in the recreational sport.

Respect will play this weekend in the Salem Freedom Bowl, one of the state's largest flag football tournaments featuring 28 teams.

Roseburg Respect will play in the 5-on-5 division and tournament organizers say they stand a good chance of winning it.

The Salem Freedom Bowl is the third event this year following the Snow Bowl in Medford and Desert Bowl in Bend.

Each region of the state is sending teams to the event in hopes of capturing a rank and/or points in the OFTL system. There are potentially 250 points for winning each respective division.

"Only the most serious flag football teams in the state play in OFTL tourneys because these events help determine for the year who the best team is in the state of Oregon for each respective division," tournament officials said.

On the mens' side, the Roseburg Honey Badgers will compete, representing Man^ Roseburg with Roseburg Respect representing Woman^ Roseburg.
