ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg's Umpqua Lions bounced back after a close loss to salvage a split against the Grants Pass Diggers Wednesday at Legion Field in Roseburg.

The Diggers (4-4 Area 4 North, 5-13 overall) edged the Lions 8-7 in the opener.

Bailey Johnson was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI for Umpqua. Kyler Leischner was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Umpqua bounced back in the nightcap with a 5-0 shutout victory.

Riley Westbrooks was 5-for-6 on the night in total with 3 doubles.

The Lions are now 5-3 in the Area 4 North, 7-10 overall. They travel to North Medford on Friday.

Meanwhile, Roseburg's Pepsi Bottlecaps (4-0 Area 4 North, 8-5 overall) were in action earlier in the day at Legion Field.

The Bottlecaps fell 9-4 to Orofino, Idaho in a non-league contest. Pepsi takes on North Coos (1-1, 9-5) in a league twin bill Thursday afternoon at Clyde Allen Field in North Bend.
