MEDFORD, Ore. -- Roseburg's Pepsi Bottlecaps came away with two wins Wednesday at South Medford to improve to 8-4 overall on the season in single-A legion baseball.
The Bottlecaps won the opener 7-3 on Kaden Seely's six innings of work. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts. Collin Warmouth closed out the game.
Pepsi entered the bottom of the 7th down 3-2. Garrett Russell led off with an infield single and later scored the winning run when Brody Black's line drive was too hot for the South Medford (0-6 Area 4 South, 6-8 overall) second baseman to handle.
Brett Jackson went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Russell finished 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and Luke Lucido was 2-for-4.
In the nightcap, the Bottlecaps notched an 8-5 victory.
Josh Alexander pitched 5 2/3 innings for Pepsi, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits and striking out 3. Warmouth again came on in relief and picked up the save following 1 1/3 innings of work.
Zack Mandera smashed a 2-run homer in the top of the 5th to give the Bottlecaps a 5-3 lead en route to the win. He'd finish the game 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs.
Black went 3-for-5 in the nightcap with 2 RBIs and Max Labahn finished 2-for-4.
Pepsi hosts a team from Idaho on Wednesday, July 6. The following day they're back in Area 4 North action with a doubleheader against North Coos in North Bend.
Elsewhere, the Dr. Stewart's picked up their first conference win of the season following a doubleheader split with Willamette Valley.
