ROSEBURG, Ore. -- It took eight tries, but the Roseburg Dr. Stewart's finally snapped their conference losing streak Wednesday.
Following a disappoing doubleheader sweep at Medford, the Docs managed a split against Willamette Valley at Legion Field Wednesday to improve to 1-7 in the Area 4 League, 5-15 overall.
Willamette Valley (2-4 Area 4, 5-10 overall) won the opener 5-2 before the Docs' bats woke up for an 8-5 win in the nightcap.
On Tuesday, Medford swept Roseburg by scores of 7-2 and 14-4.
The Mustangs split with Klamath Falls Wednesday, preserving a second-pace tie in the Area 4 with both teams at 4-2 behind league leading Eugene (6-0).
Non-league play continues Thursday with the opening round of the four-day Corvallis Tournament which runs through July 3.
Elsewhere in legion baseball, Roseburg's Pepsi Bottlecaps picked up a sweep at South Medford on Wednesday.
