ROSEBURG, Ore. -- After struggling on both sides of the ball in the opener, the Roseburg Dr. Stewart's bounced back for a shutout victory in the nightcap, salvaging a league split with the Grants Pass Nuggets at Legion Field Tuesday.

The music was loud as Music on the Halfshell played host to thousands watching Leroy Bell across the way at Stewart Park midway through the opening game, which saw the Nuggets (7-9 league, 17-14 overall) hand the Docs a 9-1 defeat.

The game was closer than the score might indicate as a late burst of five Grants Pass runs in the 7th stretched the final tally, but the Docs never got on track offensively.

Things turned around in the nightcap as the Docs won 6-0 behind a Wryland McKnight complete-game shutout.

The Docs are now 6-10 in the Area 4 League, 11-21 overall. They host Humboldt in a non-league twin bill Wednesday.
