160717 pepsiROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg's Pepsi Bottlecaps came from behind to hold off North Medford in a close game two after a come-from-behind blowout in the opener. The wins gave Pepsi a non-league sweep Sunday at Legion Field.

The Bottlecaps won the first game 17-7 and took the nightcap 3-2.

Pepsi actually trailed 7-0 after a 7-run first inning for North in the opener, but the bats came alive and the game ended after 5 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Brendan Ibarra was 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs, Garrett Russell 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs, Luke Lucido 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and Brody Black was 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs.

Many more Pepsi hitters padded their stats in the game, including Kaden Seely (2-for-2 with 4 runs scored), Cody Johnson (2-for-4, 3 runs), and Zach Mandera (1-for-3, 3 RBIs).

Pepsi chipped away at the early deficit, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first, 2 in the second and 2 in the third to tie it. A 5-run fifth  put the game away for the 'Caps.

Black pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings in releif to pick up the win.

In the nightcap, Pepsi trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th before coming back to take a 3-2 win.

After Black led off the inning with a walk, Brett Jackson hit a double to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Paxton Shinn then hit a game-tying single.

In the bottom of the 7th, Shinn singled again with 2 outs to score Garrett Russell for the game winning run.

Shinn finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, Jackson 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Black was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Pepsi's Josh Alexander gave up 2 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings with 5 strikeouts. Cody Johnson pitched a scoreless 7th for the win.

The Bottlecaps improved to 19-6 overall (13-1 in the Area 4 North).
