ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A 5k and fun run/walk this Sunday (August 28) will help a local organization to raise cancer awareness and issues.

The Focus on Hope 5k & 1m Fun Run/Walk is the Community Cancer Center’s annual cancer awareness and cancer risk management education and fundraising event.

Unlike other cancer related campaigns, 100 percent of the proceeds raised for Focus on Hope will remain in Douglas County to benefit the local community through outreach resources and education and treatment access for cancer patients at the Community Cancer Center, organizers said.

Online registration is open and the entry fee is $20.

Participants receive official 5k timing, race bib, finisher medal and an option to purchase an event shirt.

Day-of-race registration is from 6:45-7:45 a.m.

The awards ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
