South Umpqua played like the higher ranked team in its upset victory over visiting Marshfield Friday night.

Junior tailback Connor Yates scored 4 touchdowns (35, 3, 43, 4) and Jaret Remington kicked three field goals in a 42-20 Far West League win over the second-ranked Pirates (0-1, 3-1) at Kent Wigle Stadium.

SU (1-0, 2-2) led 16-6 at halftime and stretched the lead to 30 points early in the 4th quarter.
