Sutherlin opened the season with a win over visiting South Umpqua Thursday night.

The host Bulldogs beat the Lancers 47-29 in a first round game at the Bill Spelgatti Invitational at Sutherlin High School.

Senior Marshal Warmouth and freshman Mason Gill led Sutherlin with 11 points apiece. 

The tournament runs through Saturday.
