WINSTON, Ore. -- Douglas Recreation Association is holding early sign-ups for its cheer program this Saturday, April 8.

The sign-ups take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brockway School in Winston.

Cost for the program is $60 for "Mini's" (K-3rd grade) and $160 for "Jr's" (Grades 3-8).

The season will last from June through the end of October.

Cheerleaders will participate in parades throughout the summer along with performances at festivals and sideline cheering during football games.

If you can't make the early sign-up this Saturday you're asked to contact Douglas Recreation Association.

"We want every child to have an opportunity to participate," organizers said. "This is a wonderful new experience for our local youth."

The association says the program is open to kids in surrounding areas as well.
