McMINNVILLE, Ore.--- Competing in their final tune-up prior to the 2017 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships next weekend, both the Concordia Cavalier men and women's outdoor track and field team is on track after their performance at the Linfield Open. 

Former Douglas County and Sutherlin High School standout Christina MacDonald broke fellow Cavalier McKenzie Warren's GNAC record with her first-place throw of 57.05m (187-2) in the hammer to lead the way for Concordia.
 
"I am really pumped up for Christina (MacDonald) for breaking the GNAC hammer record taking it away from McKenzie Warren," said Concordia head coach Jerret Mantalas. "It's nice when the records stay within the Concordia family.  We also had PR's in the hammer from Joselynn Tensley, Rachel McKinnis and may PRs in the shot put as well.  Everyone is on track for the conference next weekend in Monmouth."
 
Besides placing first in the hammer, MacDonald also captured the shot put and javelin titles at the Linfield Open. She had a mark of 16.89m (61-11.75) in the shot put and a throw of 48.19m (158-1) in the javelin.

Conference officials on Monday announced MacDonald was named the GNAC co-Women's Field Athlete of the Week with Western Washington's Anna Paradee.
