CAMAS VALLEY, Ore. -- The Camas Valley football team is gearing up for a non-league contest against county rival North Douglas on Saturday, September 9, and both teams are coming off season-opening wins.

The Warriors took care of business in their season opener at Powers, notching a 32-20 road win.

The Hornets, meanwhile, made the long journey to Dufur for the annual 8-Man Classic, where they had no trouble with Powder Valley in a 60-6 blowout.

"The kids had an all-around good team effort against Powder Valley," Camas Valley head coach Eli Wolfe said. "We just played our game and persevered through the hot weather. Kickoff was 103 degrees; that's the hottest game I have coached in 18 years. North Douglas will be a good matchup; they're athletic and well-coached."

Neither team will have home field advantage. The game will be played on the turf at North Bend High School.

"They're coming off a great win at Powers and should be really excited for this week," Wolfe said. "I just hope we can match their intensity and have another great showing. Bring your popcorn."

Kickoff for the Hornets and Warriors is set for 12 p.m. Saturday.
