A pair of Douglas County football teams played their conference openers Friday night.

Roseburg (0-1, 1-2) struggled in its Southwest Conference opener at Grants Pass losing to the Cavemen 30-7.

The Indians' lone score came in the 4th quarter on an 8-yard touchdown pass from backup QB Jace Stoffal to fellow sophomore Jett Black.

There was an upset in the 1A ranks as junior running back Caleb Parks rushed for over 200 yards and four TD's leading North Douglas to a 48-20 win at top-ranked Lowell in the District 3 opener for both teams.

Elsewhere, Douglas (2-1) downed Hidden Valley 32-8; Glide (2-1) rolled over Reedsport 42-6; and Days Creek beat Riddle 46-18.

Oakland's matchup with Oakridge and Elkton's game at Crow were canceled.

Three games are set for Saturday with South Umpqua (1-1) hosting Phoenix (1-1); second-ranked Camas Valley (2-0) plays against #5 Triad (2-0) at Klamath Falls High School; and Yoncalla (0-2) welcomes McKenzie (0-1) in a District 3 matchup at 7:00pm.
