180627 Docs 0810ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's American Legion baseball team exacted revenge Wednesday night with a doubleheader sweep over the Grants Pass Nuggets at Legion Field in Roseburg.

The Docs (2-2 Area 4, 10-8 overall) picked up the wins, 13-2 and 6-1, after the Nuggets (2-2, 12-6) swept Roseburg Tuesday night in Grants Pass, 15-8 and 9-5.

In the opener Wednesday, which ended in 5 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule, Roseburg's Johnathan Stone doubled and scored twice (both coming in the third inning); Luke Lucido was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs; Zack Mandera went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs; and Cody Johnson tripled for the Docs.

Roseburg's Jace Stoffal picked up the win.

In the nightcap, Johnson pitched a complete game with 3 strikeouts for the Docs. Jett Black was 1-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI and Stone also knocked in a run.

The Docs travel to Corvallis for a non-leaguer on Thursday, June 28. Game time is 6 p.m.

Elsewhere, Roseburg's Pepsi Bottlecaps swept South Coos, 12-0 and 9-5, to improve to 7-1 in Area 4 North play. The 'Caps are currently in first place.

Pepsi will face off against local rival Dr. Randol's (3-3 Area 4 North) on Friday, June 29 in Roseburg. You can listen live to the doubleheader here at DouglasCountySportsOnline.com. Game 1 begins at 6 p.m.
